Yashovani, a name meaning “success through speech,” is transforming lives for visually impaired people. Founded by Mrs. Prachi Gurjar, Yashovani provides audio books tailored to individual needs, empowering the visually challenged through accessible resources.
Mrs. Gurjar, a former volunteer at NAB, began recording books for visually challenged students, aiming to make them self-sufficient in their studies. Her vision led her to establish Yashovani, which now has around 400 dedicated reader volunteers recording audio books on request. With a quick call or email to Yashovani, anyone in need can receive audio versions of required books, with no registration, no paperwork, and no fees.
How Yashovani Works
Upon receiving a PDF through email, Telegram, or WhatsApp, Yashovani divides the content among volunteers for recording. Each volunteer records their assigned section and submits it to the editing team, where it’s reviewed and compiled into a complete audio book. The final link is shared with the visually challenged user or relevant groups. This streamlined process allows Yashovani to deliver audio books within 10-15 days.
The Yashovani Audio Library
Yashovani has an extensive audio library with over 5,000 audio books, covering a wide range of topics, including school and college textbooks, competitive exams, medical and engineering studies, novels, poetry, religious texts, and more. Daily newspapers are also recorded in three languages. Audio files in MP3 format are shared via USB, drive links, email, WhatsApp, and Telegram, all free of charge. The library’s data is also shared with colleges and universities, and Yashovani offers subject-specific tutorials recorded by expert volunteers at no cost.
